Committee position descriptions

General Committee Member Duties

  • Provide current contact details to the Secretary/Epic Editors/Webperson. Ensure that up to date contact details are on the Web and on the contacts page of the Epic and Website.
  • Attend monthly ANUMC Committee meetings to provide your input and comment into the running of the club and provide information on your activity/position. This includes upcoming events, equipment purchases, club finances and trips. Meetings are usually held on the first Tuesday of every month at 6.30 pm.
  • Assist with major ANUMC events such as Market Day, the Introductory BBQ and the Huge Weekends (Huge Days Out, Bluies Extravaganza, Huge Beach Days Out, Huge Snow Days Out, Cocktails at the Castle)

Activity Officers
Bushwalking, Rockclimbing, Mountain Biking, Canyoning, XC Skiing, Mountaineering, Kayaking, Sea Kayaking, and Orienteering & Rogaining.

  • Ensure an adequate number of trips are being run in your activity, including beginner trips
  • Respond to all trip submissions in your area.
  • Actively try and recruit potential trip leaders.
  • Have a significant say in what equipment needs to be purchased/ repaired for your activity.
  • Climbing Wall Officers (4)

    • Communicate all correspondence regarding the climbing wall from the SRA to the President and Secretary of the Club.
    • Be at the wall on club climbing nights (amongst a roster.) Ensure safe climbing is happening
    • Ensure distribution and return of harnesses
    • Optional stuff: Promotional events (ie being belay slaves for a few hours on market day); organising club comp; organising route setting bees; running climbing skills sessions.

    Gear Store Officers (4)

    • Be present once a week 5.45-6.15 to open the gearstore (schedule worked out with other gearstore officers.)
    • Supervise all hire and return of gear.
    • Monitor condition of all gear.
    • Liaise with relevant activity officers/committee/executive about shortages of equipment/ equipment needing repair.
      • EPIC Editors (3)

        • Ensure the club newsletter, the EPIC, is published regularly (in its current form, four times a year) and promptly.
        • Seek contributions from club members about their activities/trips/reviews.
        • Edit and publish articles and photos.

        Promotions Officer

        • Promote in the ANU community an awareness of the ANUMC and the broad range of outdoor activities it undertakes
        • Promote the active involvement of ANUMC members in ANUMC activities and especially in trip leading and to facilitate the dissemination of significant news to ANUMC members
        • Where appropriate, promote the ANUMC off campus, including in the outdoor community.

        Website Officer

        • Maintain and regularly update club website

        Database Manager

        • Manage all club email lists.
        • Manage database of club members.
