Competition funding

Funding is available through the Club’s grant from the SRA for subsidising entry fees for competitions in any of the Club activities. These include rogaines such as the Paddy Pallin and ACT Championships Rogaine, mountain bike races such as the Mont and the Scott 24 hour, kayak races such as the Hawkesbury Classic or Murray Marathon, and even team sports such as canoe polo.

How much money is available?
There is a formula the SRA uses to ensure fair allocation of funding across all its members. Student members are entitled to a 60% subsidy of their entry fees, up to a maximum of $70 per year. Non-student full members of the SRA are entitled to a 45% subsidy of their entry fees, up to a maximum of $60 per year. Categories such as Valued Club Affiliate Members, who pay a discounted fee to join the SRA, are not eligible for competition funding. Entry fees include the fee to enter the individual competition, plus any compulsory membership required, such as the $10 per year membership fee for the ACT Rogaining Association, are covered by the subsidy.

What are the rules?
In team events, all team members should be club members. Club members who are Valued Club Affiliates count, but are not eligible for the subsidy. In some cases, it is acceptable to have non-members in a club team, e.g. replacements for last minute drop outs as a result of injury, or where sufficient club members can’t be found to fill a team. Again of course, the non-members are not eligible for subsidies.

How do I get my money?
Contact the treasurer! You’ll need to provide some form of proof of entry and the money paid. A receipt is fine, as is a web link to the results from a competition, plus a list of the entry fees. Refunds will normally be by cheque, or for smaller amounts (<$20), petty cash payments can be made through the gear store.
