Membership

Why join?
A wide variety of people of different ages and backgrounds are members of the ANU Mountaineering Club. Many are international students visiting Australia on an exchange program who want to see the Australian bush. Members of the ANU mountaineering club are able to participate in trips, climb for free on climbing nights at the ANU gym and hire a huge variety of gear from our gear store. In addition, club members receive support from the club to participate in outdoor competitions and discounts at many Canberra outdoor stores.

How much does it cost?
Membership for 2009 costs $30 for ANU students (both full and part time) and $50 for non ANU students. The membership year runs from 1 February 2009 to 28 February 2010. Memberships for people joining on or after 1 September 2009 cost only $20 for ANU students and $30 for non-students to reflect the reduced time covered. Non-students must be members of the ANU Sport and Recreation Association before joining the ANU Mountaineering Club. Please contact the ANU Sport and Recreation Association directly for conditions of membership.

Some active club members receive discounted or free SRA membership. Non-members may participate in a limited number of club trips for a small fee. While this isn't the preferred option, it's a chance to see what the club is all about. More information about joining the SRA and special membership categories can be found here.
