Leading a trip

You, trip leaders, are the heart and soul of this club! Without trips, this club is nothing, so please don't hold back your enthusiasm for planning and running trips.

How do I run a trip? Not wanting to be obvious, but first you need something to do and somewhere to go. (In fact, you don't even need somewhere to go: just ask your activity officer and they'll have plenty of great ideas.) If you're not yet confident with your trip leading, contact the relevant activity officer to discuss your plan. Then submit the trip through this website. Most fields on the form are self-explanatory but, again, if you aren't sure contact the activity officer. The activity officer will be automatically notified of your submission, and once he or she is happy with it, will approve it and it will appear on the Trip Calendar. Then people sign up, you run the pre-trip and then off you go!

Club members are given priority on club trips. Non-members may participate in club trips, subject to some conditions. For more information click here.

Also in these pages you will find information about the ANUMC's insurance policy, and reimbursements for training activities, such as first aid courses. You may also like to look again at the basic trip information under About the club.

Another useful resource is the ANUMC bushlore. This is a two page pdf which can be printed out and given to beginners. It covers basic information on what and how to pack, what food to bring and bush hygiene and etiquette.

Participants on club trips must sign an indemnity form. See indemnity forms for more details.
