The club organises first aid courses each year through providers such as Parasol and the Wilderness Medicine Institute. Generally at least one senior first aid course (similar to a course for a workplace first aid certificate) and at least one longer, remote area specific first aid course will be organised. These will be advertised on the trip calendar. Leaders are strongly encouraged to have a first aid qualification, and it is club policy that at least one person on each trip has a certificate.
Subsidies
Funding is available the Club's SRA grant for subsidising first aid courses. These are allocated by the Executive each year to trip leaders and other active club members on merit. Subsidies cover up to 40% of the cost of a remote area course and up to 50% of the cost of a senior first aid course, although this may be lower if the subsidies are over-subscribed.
