Is it necessary to describe Nowra??? Yes? Ok: Nowra is great. (WHEN IT DOES NOT RAIN :)
More seriously, Nowra is a wonderful place for sport climbing with several routes suitable for beginners and a lot of fun for experienced climbers as well. It is sandstone which means you usually still have fingers after half a day of climbing :)
This trip is open to beginners. You just need to have a belay pass. The sign up will still be limited to the ratio of beginners VS Experienced climbers and available cars.
For this trip you will need to bring your own:
- harness
- belay device + locking carabiner
- 1 or 2 slings (optional)
- helmet
- climbing shoes
- (car) camping gear
(all of which can be hired from the gear store)
Wether we leave on Friday evening or Saturday morning will be discussed at the pretrip meeting, as well as food (we can have breakfast / dinner in town if we want).
When you sign up, please answer those questions:
- beginner or experienced?
- ever climbed / belayed outdoors?
- can you lead and up to what grade?
- do you have a car and how many sits?
- do you have gear (rope, draws) that you are happy to bring (you'll get some rope fee back)?
Cost will be petrol + campground (~$10 / night) + food + $5 rope fee (if you don't provide your own gear)
