Jerrara Creek is a gem of a canyon in the Bungonia area. It has many waterfalls, some swims, great colours in the rocks and a semi constricted feel. The 70m semi hanging waterfall abseil is a classic. Wait there is more.... it is an easy drive from Canberra. Wait there is even more... it is an easy walk in and a short steep walk out. Wait there is still some more...... the water is usually warm compared to the Blue Mountains and Kanangra.
This is NOT a trip for beginners. It is aimed at potential leaders who will continue to develop their skills and hopefully lead some canyons during the summer season. You must be able to demonstrate the 3Cs => Commitment to the outdoors + Continuity in the outdoors + Contribution to the ANUMC. eg: you would have been on many trips in the last couple of years, you would have been enjoying the outdoors for quite a while and you would have been helping the ANUMC by assisting the leaders, helping at BBQ, helping in the gear store, doing first aid courses and generally indicating a spirit of "giving to the ANUMC".
Compared to Bungonia Creek canyoning coaching 101, this trip will focus on moving efficiently rather than discussing anchors, abseils, movement on rock, gear to take and so on.
There will be a group limit of eight depending on the ratio of "experienced" versus aspiring leaders.
